NGC 7293 is more commonly known as the Helix nebula, a planetary nebula which is the result of a dying star shedding its outer layers and shrinking into a white dwarf star. Of all the brighter planetary nebula, the Helix is one of the closest to the Earth. Again, from my heavily light-polluted location, I have never visually seen the Helix through my telescope. The purpose of dominance politics is to attack, attack, attack, and make it appear that the opponent has not fought back. To quote Marshall, “Someone who can’t or won’t defend themselves…

It is now pretty much a given among those who actually study the issue that American democracy is teetering on the verge of collapse. We have an electoral system that currently almost guarantees minority rule, abetted by the Senate filibuster which is yet another absurd relic of our country’s racist…

Saturday, I attended our local Women’s March, this time focused on abortion rights. It was a pretty nice turnout for a small town on a beautiful day, with lost of support from passer-bys. As usual, our great Senator Dick Blumenthal showed up and worked the crowd. The saying is that 80% of success is just showing up and Blumenthal is proof of that.
