Messier 8, commonly known as the Lagoon nebula, is a star-forming region in the constellation Sagittarius that is bright enough to be seen with the naked eye under dark skies.
Messier 17, also known as the Swan or Omega nebula, is a cloud of ionized gas in the constellation Sagittarius.
Messier 16, also known as the Eagle nebula, is young open cluster of stars surrounded by an emission nebula of gas and dust. The index finger-like cloud pointing downward is a column of hydrogen gas and dust that is part of what’s known as the “Pillars of Creation”.
