Can’t disagree with much you are saying. For Russia, the transition from totalitarianism was going to be difficult no matter what and I did not mean to imply otherwise. But, at the time, there was this a widespread belief that capitalism led to democracy and that belief led the West to push for rapid privatization at the expense of building a stronger judicial system. I believe that focus was misplaced but would probably not have substantially changed the course of events in Russia.
